This year’s dance symposium is part of a series of "Sembang" Discussion & Talks by Kamelia Co. The "Sembang" series will culminate with the Sembang Symposium held over two days at Wisma Geylang Serai as part of the Muara Festival programing.
As the producer of the annual Muara Festival, Era Dance Theatre Limited (EDT) aims to bridge theory and philosophy with practice by organising this symposium just before the closing celebrations of Muara Festival 2024.
Sayembara Tari Festival Muara

As part of the Muara Festival this competition brings together talented dancers and choreographers from across the region to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Malay dance.
Sayembara Tari Festival Muara not only fosters artistic excellence but also encourages cultural exchange and collaboration among participants from different countries
Muara Festival Closing
Saturday 30th November 2024
7.30 pm - 9.15 pm
The month-long festival will culminate with a final performance where foreign delegates from Malaysia & Indonesia will be invited to perform with local dancers.The signature process work in Muara Festival involves participants learning and performing one dance item from each country, and performing the same in the dance showcase will continue.
Foreign groups will report one week before the scheduled date to learn and practice the selected dance routines. The closing performance for Muara Festival 2024 will be a kaleidoscopic event that portrays the amaraderie and strength of Malay dance practitioners and the Malay arts and culture in the region.
Our young hosts will engage the audience with an interactive audience segment to ensure a holistic experience worthy of a regional showcase. Dance, music and songs reminiscing the past will complement current dance creations creating aspirations for future growth.
